This bowl is more of an art piece than a useful bowl, that is, unless you want to use it as a “diet” bowl. As I was hollowing it out a knot not only appeared, but fell out, leaving a very cool void for a visual effect. I certainly couldn’t have planned this one out without the help of nature!

It’s a lovely looking piece even if you don’t purposefully display the knot hole. Several different fungus varieties added their special touch to the wood before me, giving it a very active pattern to the spalting. There are also a few bore holes from insect activity that I have left the wood dust in for further visual effect.
