I’m proud to say that this big bowl of Bradford Pear will be going to the raffle for Threaded’s first annual fundraising gala, A Taste of Unity.
Threaded is a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing recital reconciliation, unity, and justice through the gospel.
This large bowl is made from aged Bradford Pear that was sourced from a fallen branch here in North Texas. This was part of a branch crotch and you can clearly see the three heartwood points around the bowl. There is also a hole in the rim where a branch was attempting to form which makes for an interesting feature.
The bowl is 7 1/2 inches in diameter and 4 1/2 inches high. There are a few cracks running through it, and they have all been stabilized with a dark brown ca glue to add further accent to the piece. It is finished in Tung Oil with a coat of Odie’s Oil on top to add some extra shine. It is food safe if you want to add trail mix to it.
