This piece of crepe myrtle was started a while ago and then sat while I tried to figure out how to finish it while keeping the bark intact around the rim. In the end I decided to try burning and sanding to emphasize the chain saw marks on opposite sides of the bowl as well as to highlight the lightness of the wood on the inside of the bowl.  The inside is not sanded as finely as the outside, also adding to the contrast.

I’m pleased with how “artsy” this bowl turned out and I hope you like it too.
