What do you do with a bowl that split because you turned it wet (and didn’t know what you were doing at the time)? You lace the cracks with something decorative!
I originally turned this piece less than 6 months after getting into woodturning. I’ve held on to it as a reminder to be patient since just because I’m ready to turn doesn’t mean the wood I’ve selected is ready too. Two years later, I’ve finally decided that it needed a little dash of color across the cracks.
As you can see, good things definitely do come to those who wait!
The wood is hackberry. The lacing is decorative copper wire.
