This vase (or twig pot if you prefer) is made from a local piece of live oak. I started turning it while it was still wet, and some large cracks appeared, so it was shelved until it dried out and stabilized some more. Once it stabilized I filled the gaps with some black CA glue. It gives a subtle highlight to the flaws in the wood and I think makes for a nice design feature.
It’s great as a display piece, or some silk flowers (or use your own liner to add live flowers). You’re welcome to try it as a pen holder as it’s tall enough and heavy enough to not tip once full, but personally I’d stick with it being a vase.
