This little vase (or twig pot if you prefer) is made from a local piece of live oak. I was aiming for something with straight sides, and I think I accomplished that fairly well here. It’s great for a small display piece, or some silk flowers. You’re welcome to try it as a pen holder, but I think the sides a re little too short for that use. The inside is still slightly rough (I need more practice on the hard woods).

The wood started to crack while I was turning it, so I filled the gaps with some black CA glue. It gives an interesting highlight to the flaws in the wood, and I look forward to using the technique more.

It’s definitely handmade, and as the creator I see all the flaws. I hope you see the character.
